Experimental study on cavitation in rubber vulcanizates subjected to constrained tensile deformation

چکیده

Advanced experimental techniques in terms of situ dilatometry and X-ray microtomography as well microscopy have been used to investigate cavitation unfilled carbon black reinforced styrene-butadiene rubber vulcanizates. The work introduces into the features multiaxial deformation damage behavior characterized by formation growth internal defects – so-called cavities. Experimental evidence indicates that occurs vulcanizates subjected constrained tensile deformation, while number cavities is increasing, but average cavity size decreasing with increasing degree constraints.

Filler Structure and Tensile Properties of Starch Xanthide - Reinforced Vulcanizates

Stress-strain behavior of some starch xanthideand carbon black-reinforced styrene-butadiene elastomers was investigated as a function of filler particle size and structure. In starch xanthide systems, low strain behavior is sensitive to particle structure; high strain behavior, to particle size. Electron photomicrographs of the several starch xanthide-reinforced vulcanizates were analyzed with ...

An Experimental and Numerical Study of Deformation Behavior of Steels in Biaxial Tensile Tests

Lightweighting materials are increasingly being used by automotive companies as sheet metal components to meet fuel economy targets by the year 2025. Consequently, accurate material model data need to be developed by applying biaxial strain paths with cross-shaped specimens, since traditional uniaxial stress-strain data cannot capture the deformation behavior in complex forming operations. This...

Cavitation during tensile deformation of isothermally crystallized polypropylene and high-density polyethylene

The cavitation phenomenon was studied in isothermally and non-isothermally crystallized polypropylene and high-density polyethylene. It was found that nano-voids were not present in the crystallized samples, but were formed during their tensile deformation. The process of cavitation was initiated before reaching the yield point. The ellipsoidal voids were initially elongated perpendicularly to ...

Effect of Rubber Nanoparticle Agglomeration on Properties of Thermoplastic Vulcanizates during Dynamic Vulcanization

We previously reported that the dispersed rubber microparticles in ethylene-propylenediene monomer (EPDM)/polypropylene (PP) thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) are actually agglomerates of rubber nanoparticles. In this study, based on this new understanding of the microstructure of TPV, we further revealed the microstructure-properties relationship of EPDM/PP TPV during dynamic vulcanization, es...

Experimental Study of Crumb Rubber in Concrete

Crumb rubber is a material produced by shredding and commutating used tires. Waste tire dumping, disposal of these materials or burning these tires cause serious health and environmental problems. On the other side the traffic intensity also increasing day by day and thus bearing capacities also increased the long term goal of the work is to find a means to dispose of the crumb rubber in concre...
